SPEAKER: Elliott Short, Raytheon
TOPIC: Thermal Management of Electronic Systems – 1 hour CEUs
Raytheon provides electronic systems for a range of government and commercial systems. The systems are designed for a wide range of ground, vehicle, marine, airborne, and satellite applications. Thermal management of the electronic systems requires analysis, development, design, and testing spanning all modes of heat transfer and including either or both passive and active systems.
Elliott Short has worked at Raytheon (legacy: Texas Instruments) since 1983, specializing in the design, analysis, and development of thermal management systems for ground, airborne, and satellite systems utilizing all modes of heat transfer and including both single and two-phase convection techniques. He earned a BSME from the University of Texas at Austin in 1973, a MSAeE from the University of Arizona in 1977, a MSME from the University of Arizona in 1977, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from SMU in 1994. Elliott is an active participant in ASME and AIAA, is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas, and is a retired Colonel in the US Army Reserve.
Elliott and Carol have two children. Their daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter live in Katy. Granddaughter, Alyssa, is a fifth generation native Texan. Their son and daughter-in-law live in Austin while he completes an MSME at UT
