Words are Promiscuous

Words are Promiscuous

I found this to be an interesting concept.  When I read that “words are promiscuous”, I thought, “Really?”

After contemplation, I think that they are.  They also play differently as circumstances, concepts and ideas vary within an individual.

Individuals as they are reading whatever particular words, also interpret them differently, as their understanding of meanings come into play and as their points of view and their interaction with the world plays apart in their understanding.

Just something to think about.  How does this apply to you?  Have you ever been misinterpreted even though you thought you were being clear?

“Words are promiscuous; they’ll let themselves be read by anyone.”  Douglas Galbraith in the novel The Rising Sun (I’ve paraphrased it and think I’ve captured the meaning, you decide.)
