DaJAngband main page

Purpose of DaJAngband:
To add flavor and character to vanilla Angband while keeping the gameplay similar to the original with one town and one dungeon. This is done mostly through redoing the monster list and adding new classes, races, magic effects, and dungeon features.  See the DaJAngband Readme.txt for more detailed lists of changes from vanilla.  Also, like any variant maintainer would, I put in stuff I like (wieldable staves, interesting new spells and monsters, monster stealth..), and take/leave out stuff which I don't like (multiple dungeons, flavorless monster names/descriptions..).
Also, DaJAngband is one of not very many Angband variants which has both a complete tileset for original size tiles and a (not-quite-complete) 32x32 tileset created by Buzzkill.  (The 32x32 tileset is not included in the game download, but you can get it from the link further down this page.)
See the DaJAngband Readme.txt for more detailed lists of changes from vanilla, some more details are listed on the DaJAngband history page. There is now an in-game help file (DJA120.txt depending on the version) which goes much more in-depth about the differences between DaJAngband and vanilla.

New Version: DaJAngband 1.3.5 (4/11/12)
Download  here
The changelist is available in the readme file as usual (The DaJAngband readme file for v1.3.5 as well as the readme files for previous versions are available for download separately at the bottom of this page as well as being included with the game download).
Note: This zip file (and the ones for previous versions) include both the source code and the windows executable which use the same lib directory. If there is a problem with packaging it this way, let me know. Otherwise I'll do it this way 'cause it's more convienent for me.

Previous version: DaJangband 1.3.2b (5/15/11)
Download  here
This update has a couple more bugfixes and minor changes, including fixing one major bug.
Previous Version: DaJAngband 1.3.0 (4/3/11)

A few highlights are: Tracking origin of items, cavern levels, ego grenades, effects of monster size, monster resistance levels, lots of other changes, and of course, more bugfixes.  Savefiles have been broken since v1.2.3.

Previous Version: DaJAngband 1.2.1  (4/17/10)
Bugfix version of 1.2.0.  Since all I did was fix some bugs, the original 1.2.0 is no longer available.

Download here

Previous Version: DaJAngband 1.1.2
There are two download options:
I have the character history & notes as a compile option so if you compile the game yourself, you can change this option in defines.h. The second zip file does not include the source and is meant for those who don't want to compile it themselves.
If anyone compiles DaJAngband for another platform, I would greatly appreciate it if you'd send it to me so I can release pre-compiled versions for other platforms. If you'd like to do this please send me a private message on angband.oook.cz

Previous version: DaJAngband v1.1.1.  Download Here
This is a bugfix update of v1.1.0

Buzzkill's 32x32 tiles (including unfinished 32x32 tiles for DaJAngband)

This has absolutely nothing to do with DaJAngband or any roguelike game, but if you care to see what else the maker of DaJAngband is up to, here's my writing blog:

Why you should play DaJAngband:
- If you'd like to play a variant that is focused on improving flavor but keeping the gameplay similar to vanilla.
- If, like me, you despise yeeks, icky things, and large white snakes and want monsters with a little more character.
- If you think angels and other uniques like Kronos and Atlas really don't fit in Angband, and want some more uniques from Tolkien. If you agree that Gollum should be tougher and not known by his hobbit name which no one in Middle Earth (except Gandalf) remembers. If you don't like killing good old Farmer Maggot.
- If you agree that see invisible should be rarer, and less monsters invisible.
- If you'd rather find enough gold in the dungeon rather than carrying stuff back to sell to the shops in the town. (from Eddie's Patch)
- If you'd like better squelch options and more involved pseudo-ID including pseudo of jewelry and auto-ID of average items and artifacts. (from Eddie's Patch)
