Extended Map Art:
The Extended Map changes are not all that extensive over the Stock Map, but do have some some interesting features that promote more realistic play options. The changes include:
- Extension of a part of the Northern map edge to extend the Arabian Sea to the edge of the Arabian peninsula, dividing the map edge zone in the Arabian Sea into two separated map edge zones that connect to the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. This results in Aden and Abadan not being directly connected by an off-map movement link.
- Extension of a part of the Northern map edge to include the North West frontier of India. This allows the placement of additional bases such as Quetta and Peshawar.
- Extension of the Western part of Luzon in the Philippines to provide a separate coastal hex for Subic Bay (hex 78, 76). This also results in the Clark Field hex (79, 76) becoming a land hex instead of a coastal hex. Also includes realignment of the Western coastal road between Lingayen (79, 75) and Clark Field.
- Modification of the Western coastline of Malaya creating a coastal hex for Batu Pahat (hex 49, 82). This also allows for the original Batu Pahat base to be renamed to a new base, Kluong (hex 50, 82) which is now in a land hex instead of a coastal hex. Also includes addition of a 'trail' type Western coast road from Malacca (49, 81), to Kluong (50, 82), through Batu Pahat (49, 82).
Extended Map Data and Stacking Limits:
The new Map Art requires new Map Data files that fit the Art. But for a bit more fun, special Map Data files are available that include definition of stacking limits for every land, coastal, or island hex. These stacking limits work just like the current Island Stacking limits but are defined in 5,000 troop increments and range from 15,000 to 250,000 per hex, depending on a hex' terrain, and a combination of a hex' road, railroad, and river infrastructure connections.
Very Small Islands have the same stacking limits (6,000) as usual. Small Islands have individual stacking limits based on their size and terrain. These range from 10,000 to 30,000 rather than being universally set to the usual 30,000. Likewise, Medium Islands have individual stacking limits based on their terrain. These range from 25,000 to 40,000 rather than being universally set to the usual 60,000.
Stacking Limit data is contained in the pwhexe.dat file. Separate zips are provided for the Extended Map With and Without Stacking Limits (SLs). Corresponding pwzone.dat and pwzlink.dat files are included in each zip in order to keep things properly together. Simply unzip the chosen file to the main game directory. As always, be sure to backup the original data files before installing the SL data files.
The names of the zip files are self explanatory; a set for the Extended Map With SL, and a set for the Extended Map Without SL
For those players who wish to use SLs with the Stock Map, a zip is provided with Stock Map Data files "With SL". BigBabes-A and BabesLite-A Scenarios can use the "With SL" data for the Stock Map.
Note: A WiF form of the map art is also included. The WiF format only requires the 'hex' map panels, so the Babes_Extended Map Art_WiF Style.zip file just has the WPEH00.bmp, WPEH01.bmp, WPEH09.bmp, and WPEH15.bmp files.
