D4 & D7 Honors Festival

                                        GENERAL INFORMATION

Nomination Forms

The Department of Music at Cleveland State University is proud to host the OMEA District IV and VII Honors Ensembles Festival on November 11 and 12, 2016.

The purpose of the Festival is to provide an exceptional musical experience for a select group of high school band and choir students and their directors. Each year the Festival features two master teacher-conductors to offer insight into the music-making process. The clinicians for the 2016 Honors Ensemble Festival are Dr. Cynthia Turner Johnston, Professor of Conducting and Director of Bands at The University of Georgia and Choral Director is to be announced.

While CSU is serving as the site host for this event, several local music educators are coordinating the event for the two districts. Nominations are due by Friday, September 20, 2016.

We are fortunate to have a plethora of wonderful music ensembles in the greater Cleveland area. Our students get to work daily and weekly with many great conductors. The purpose of the festival is to provide access for the very best students to world-class clinicians with whom they would not normally have contact and to expose them to new literature. Therefore, we ask that you take great care in considering which students to nominate for this intense period of music-making.

We wish the very best during the new academic year, and we’re looking forward to seeing you and your students at the OMEA Districts IV and VII Honors Ensembles Festival.
