The 12th Indo-US Cytometry Workshops and symposia were held in India from October 8th to 20th at the following four different locations.

October 8-9, 2011. Symposium on "Application of Flow Cytometry in Biomedical Research" was held in conjunction with the 3rd Annual meeting of the Cytometry Society (India) on the Panjab University Campus in Chandigarh. Two days of lectures were presented by visiting faculty from the USA, Singapore and Australia. One hundred fifty students from the local universities and institutions of higher learning attended the lectures. Dr. Ranbir C. Sobti and Dr. Sanjeev Puri were hosts of the symposium presided by Dr. Amar Dasgupta, President of the Cytometry Society. Faculty from abroad included Drs. Brent Wood, A. Krishan, W.Telford, V. Shankey, V. Tanavde and G. Osborne.

October 10-12, 2011. 12th Indo-US Workshop on "Applications of Flow Cytometry in Clinical Research" was hosted by the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Research and Education in Chandigarh. Thirty five students registered for the nine wet lab modules that were offered. Six flow analyzers and cell sorters from Becton Dickinson and Beckman Coulter were used for wet labs. Students were given a quiz on the material taught and also filled in an evaluation form on the various labs. Drs. Sunil Arora and Paresh Jain were organizers of this highly successful workshop.

October 14-16, 2011. "Applications of Flow Cytometry in Translational Research" workshop was hosted by the Manipal Life Sciences Center of the Manipal University. Drs. K Satyamoorthy and S. Rao were the hosts of this three day wet workshop. Lectures and labs were attended by 55 students. Drs. M. Ormerod, V. Tanavde, P. Narayanan, A. Krishan and H. Krishnamurthy taught the wet lab modules.

October 19-20, 2011. A symposium on "Applications of Laser Flow Cytometry in Biomedical Research" was organized by the Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute of the Dr. D.Y. Patil University in Pune. One hundred and fifty students attended two days of lectures by the invited faculty. Drs. M.B. Khetmalas and N.N. Nawani were organizers of this two day symposium. Drs. M. Ormerod, A. Krishan, Padma Narayanan, V. Tanavde, S. Chiplunkar, J. Kode, S. Bapat, S. Gujral, M. Madkaiker M. Chatterjee were invited speakers.
