2012 FirstTry is in the books

posted Jun 29, 2012, 2:23 PM by Paul Zieske

The 2012 FirstTry is in the books along with the first FastTry.  We had 340 athlete total and 340-plus stories that will last a life time.  I still remember my first race and I even have the T-Shirt for the 1984 Automan triathlon in Winsor Lake St Clair.

The First FirstTry is the books

posted Jun 26, 2011, 5:05 PM by Paul Zieske

We had 170 athletes total with folks from Pennsylvania, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois.  We had 15 under 18 years old.  We had one challenged athlete who, minus a leg, completed her first triathlon.  We had people on $6000 tribikes and people on bikes with kick stands and tassels.  We had people who wanted to race and we had people who just wanted to finish.  Two things we had for sure, was a lot of fun and a great sense of accomplishment.  Thanks to everyone involve.

Thursday Dirt Road Ride

posted Apr 13, 2011, 10:18 AM by Paul Zieske

The Thursday night dirt road ride is back!

Plan to begin the always popular Dirt Road Ride on Thursday April 14th at 6 PM. This is a great open ride on lightly traveled dirt roads south and west of Linden.

Same as before, meet at the public parking lot behind Linden Toy Factory in downtown Linden at 6pm.

A few of the normal guidelines for this group ride:

- Arrive on time so that we can launch at 6 PM. Call if you get in a pinch (we're not that uptight).

- No headphones.

- Point out pot holes and hazards to the rider behind.

- Re-group frequently to stay together.

- Obey all traffic rules.

If you see someone acting in an unsafe manner please point it out to them as well as to me.

Plan on this ride every Thursday through December.

See you Thursday :)

FirstTry Triathlon Clinics

posted Apr 12, 2011, 6:16 PM by Paul Zieske

The clinics will be held May 22th, May 29th and June 5th.  They will be triathlon 101 style and more informational than actual training events.  There will be practical exercises but nothing that will be mistaken for a workout.  I will be preparing the flyer in the next week or so.  They have been posted  on the calendar.

Don’t know if anyone is interested or not but this is a FREE triathlon clinic coming up à http://www.rei.com/class/18280/session/22423  There is also one tomorrow but that’s kind of short notice.  Might be helpful for tips/techniques for both presenting and racing.
