Races Canceled 8/2

posted Aug 2, 2014, 7:20 AM by John Klaus

Unfortunately, the forecast and radar show that we will have rain throughout the day today.

As a result, I am canceling the races scheduled for today for both Sakonnets and Beetles.

We will count the first race of the chappy bowl (scheduled for 8/3) for each fleet towards the August and Overall series.

Currently, the weather forecast for tomorrow is improving, so I am hopeful that we will be able to have all of our events.

I hope to see you all out there!

Hi all,

Hurricane Arthur is bearing down on us and the radar shows that despite its likely arrival late tonight, weather today will be rainy with a possibility of thunderstorms.

As a result, I am postponing the 4th of July races until Sunday July 6th.

Races will be at the same time as scheduled.

See you all for regularly scheduled races on Saturday!

Reschedule of Chappy Bowl and PHRF Race August 4th

posted Aug 3, 2013, 8:42 PM by John Klaus

Hi All,

I apologize, but it appears that the schedule on the website is not accurate.

The timing for the chappy bowl would be at low tide.

As such, we are going to conduct the Chappy Bowl for Sakonnets and Beetles on Saturday August 24th.

All Beetle and Sakonnet Fleet Racers who have raced during JULY up to August 3rd are eligible for the chappy bowl.

Please email me if you would like to Participate, so that I can get a proper headcount.

Additionally, it appears that the regular Sunday PHRF race was not on the schedule for August 4th.

That race will be conducted as usual.

The skippers meeting with be down at little pier at 12 pm.

Please contact me with any questions.

Dear Fleet Racers,

The website has been updated for 2012. The champions for 2011 have been given their appropriate place of honor within the PAST CHAMPIONS pages of the site. The current years races and Fleet Racers have been included (as well as current finishes) on the fleet racing results summary.

As always, if you see a Fleet Racer who is doing something interesting, please snap a photo and email it to the Race Committee Chair. Once received, that person will be put into the running for "Fleet Racer of the Week!"

Check back regularly for site updates and updated finishes.

2012 Fleet Racing Season

posted Jun 25, 2012, 7:03 AM by John Klaus

Hello CYC Fleet Racers,
I am excited that we are back in the summer racing season!
I am hoping that all of the fleets have a great time racing down at Chapoquoit this year:
Please check back into this site regularly for updates and race cancellations.
If you need to get in touch with me, my contact information is on the main site or you can comment in the comments page of this site.
I check both my email and this site's comment box regularly, so please don't hesitate to get in touch if you need information or assistance.
There is also a new policy for youth Sailor's (12+ or by instructor recommendation).
Any youth sailor that is interested can speak to their instructors about getting on board a PHRF ship for the Sunday PHRF races.
We have a large group of experienced racers in the PHRF fleet (myself included) and I hope Junior sailors will take advantage of this opportunity to get involved in our great events!
As with prior years adult members who are interested in participating in the PHRF races, please come down to little pier at 12 pm on the day of the races and we will try and find a spot for you (we have not turned anyone away so far).
See you out on the course.
Best Regards,
John Klaus

Sunday (8/7) Races Canceled

posted Aug 8, 2011, 11:19 AM by John Klaus

On Sunday the weather was particularly bad.
The weather did not let up as of 2pm so both the Sakonnets Chappy Bowl and the PHRF West Falmouth Invitational have been canceled.
Hopefully we can make up a race for the PHRF racers next Sunday.
Sakonnet racers stay tuned.
