Kerala soon to set up Armed Police Battalion Unit: Kodiyeri   

Kasaragod: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said that Kerala would soon set up an armed police battalion unit to maintain law and order in the state.

Kodiyeri said, inaugurating the new circle inspector office and a police station here in Kasaragod district,"the Union Government has given its nod for setting up the armed police unit and therefore, we will soon set up the battalion".

The Home Minister, who admitted that the number of police personnel in Kerala had not increased in proportion with the rise in population, said, the Left Democratic Front government was planning to recruit more police personnel in the coming days.

All police stations in Kerala will be equipped with special counters for receiving complaints from the public. After receiving the complaints, receipts would be given. If needed, a copy of the F.I.R. would also be issued, Kodiyeri added.
