Welcome to the CyberPUNs google site!  This should be the first place to check for anything and everything related to our club.  Meeting days and times will be posted to the
Calendar as well as practice rounds and competition rounds for those participating in the Cyber Patriot competition.

As the world moves into the digital age, it is increasingly difficult to remain detached from technology.  There are computers built into our TV's, refrigerators, and don't forget about that computer you carry in your pocket/purse/backpack as you go about your day!  Although the shape of the computer may change, the fact that it can be compromised has not.  Anything and everything that connects to the internet has the potential to be hacked, and that can open you up to criminals and other unscrupulous actors.

Developing a security focused mindset when we interact with technology is the main goal of the CyberPUNs computer security club.  We will learn about systems, how to protect them, and maximize our security footprint.  To test our growing knowledge, we participate in several competitions including Cyber Patriot.

What Is CyberPatriot?

CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Education Program.  At the center of CyberPatriot is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. The competition puts teams of high school and middle school students in the position of newly hired IT professionals tasked with managing the network of a small company. In the rounds of competition, teams are given a set of virtual images that represent operating systems and are tasked with finding cyber security vulnerabilities within the images and hardening the system while maintaining critical services in a six hour period.  Teams compete for the top placement within their state and region, and the top teams in the nation earn all-expenses paid trips to Baltimore, MD for the National Finals Competition where they can earn national recognition and scholarship money.
