Tribute to Ernesto “Che” Guevara

On the 80th Anniversary of his birth

Hasta La Victoria  Siempre!

“If you tremble indignation at every injustice then you are a comrade of mine.”

Ernesto “Che” Guevara

The Cuban Embassy in New Zealand and the “Che Vive Committee – NZ” would like to invite all progressive, cultural and solidarity groups to be a part of this tribute to “Che” in the 80 year anniversary of his birth.

His extraordinary legacy is remembered, even after his death more than 40 years ago. Che is more than just a symbol of revolution, he is a role model for people around the world and his name is synonymous of humanity, conviction, dignity and courage.

The causes he fought and died for are just as relevant today, particularly in the face of widespread injustice and inequality in the world like the unfair and immoral imprisonment of the five Cuban brothers, who tried to protect their people against terrorism and who now face ridiculous prison terms which they must serve in the United States; their conviction – like Che’s – is a great example of solidarity and the possibility of working towards the dream of a better world.

Please come along and learn more about the life and struggle of Che through song, poetry and images.
