A musician with a passion for many different styles, Curtis Lanoue
brings over 20 years of performance experience to his settings of
classic hymns and tunes.
Drawing on his experience as a church
musician as well as an elementary music teacher, Curtis Lanoue offers a variety
of publications and music for diverse groups. His first book, the Afro-Cuban Percussion Workbook, was co-authored with José Eladio Amat and focuses on the
deep well of Afro-Cuban percussion. This book has a companion DVD that was
produced by good friend Thor Anderson of Planet Cuba.
Curtis followed up the success of the Afro-Cuban Percussion Workbook with
Four Preludes Based on Common Hymn Tunes for organ. In these original settings
of classic hymns, he drew on his 20 years as a church musician in writing music
that is both of interest to the congregant as well as organists.
Coming soon is a piano book of classroom favorites written for teachers
whose primary instrument is not the piano. Curtis has written arrangements of
many children's songs that use only three fingers at a time, hence the title --
Classroom Favorites for Three Fingers. |
