CAULFIELD was born in Sydney, Australia approximately 1855 (according to her daughter Rose's 1882 birth certificate). 1878 Rose Anna CAULFIELD married Michael RYAN (aka William SOMERVILLE) in 1878 in Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand. 1879 Rose gives birth to William Ryan. 1880 Rose gives birth to Henry Somerville Ryan. 1882 Rose gives birth to Rose Somerville Ryan. 1884 Rose gives birth to Eliza Somerville Ryan. 1886 Rose gives birth to James Caulfield Ryan who died in 1956 aged 70. 1888 Rose gives birth to Kathleen Somerville Ryan. 1890 Michael Ryan dies, aged 52, on 25 Feb 1890. He is buried in Purewa Cemetery on the 27 Feb 1890. Rose would only have been 45 at his death with 4 very young children. Three years later in 1893 a "Rose Ann Ryan" occupation, home duties shows on that years electoral rolls as living in Hepburn Street, City of Auckland electorate.
