The Evolution Outreach Committee is a group of graduate students in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado. Our goal is to enhance understanding of evolutionary principles as fundamental to biology-- as the great geneticist Theodosius Dobzhansky elegantly put it, “Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution.” (read more in our Mission Statement)
To achieve this goal, we have several activities that target different audiences (see our events page): a Teaching Evolution workshop to help high school teachers integrate evolutionary concepts into their classrooms; a public Evolution Symposium where graduate students in all fields share how their research builds on the tenets of evolutionary biology; movies, scavenger hunts and other fun revolving around evolution; and the explicit integration of evolutionary ideas into biology curriculum of undergraduate students.
This website is designed to be a resource for teachers, parents, students, and anyone seeking to better understand evolutionary biology. There are some fantastic, well-developed websites already existing that offer tutorials, profiles of contemporary research, and examples of evolution in action. Rather than duplicate their efforts, we provide links to these websites for you to enjoy.
