TPSL Program

The Teaching Permit for Statutory Leave (TPSL) allows an employing agency to fill a position where the teacher of record is unable to teach due to statutory leave (medical or otherwise) with a temporary teacher of record for the duration of the leave.

*Note: administrative leave is not listed as an acceptable leave.

A TPSL permit authorizes a substitute teacher to serve as the interim teacher of record for the full length of leave for any contracted teacher on a statutory leave as defined in regulations.

An individual may qualify for the TPSL permit in one or more of the optional authorizations. Commission staff may evaluate for multiple authorizations when an initial application and fee is received, or permit holders may apply for an added authorization by submitting a subsequent application and processing fee, or upon renewal of their permit.

Cost: $200

Note: A reduced rate is available for employing agencies registering 5 or more participants for the Foundational Level (Year 1). Please see "Employing Agency Registration".
