Our cash charges are as follows:
CT coronary angiography $1250
These charges are among the lowest in the Bay Area, far below the charges of hospitals.
Insurance coverage for CT heart scans is highly variable. In November of 2006 Medicare of Northern California began paying for both CT coronary angiography and CT calcium scoring in patients with symptoms or signs of possible coronary artery disease. They will not pay for simple screening tests or curiosity.
Despite coverage by medicare, most commercial insurers will not pay for CT heart scans no matter how serious a patient's risk factors or worrisome the symptoms. Rarely, they will reimburse us on appeal when there is overwhelming evidence that the test has proved invaluable and has, in fact, saved them money or dramatically altered a patient's care.
