CT angiography

CT angiography is the first non-invasive imaging technology to allow direct visualization of the coronary arteries and detection of atherosclerosis in its earliest stages--when treatment can be most effective in preventing subsequent heart attacks or sudden death. It is particularly useful for evaluating patients with cardiac risk factors and chest pain, breathlessness, or palpitations and has the potential to save the lives of many people who are currently unaware that they have serious heart disease.

Our CT imaging center

Advanced Cardiovascular Specialists offers the ultimate in CT angiographic resolution with our new Siemens 64-slice CT scanner. Complete scans of the coronary arteries can be obtained with a single intravenous contrast injection and a 12-second breathhold. We are conveniently located for patients in the South Bay, East Bay, Santa Clara County, and San Jose.

Director of CT imaging

Dr. Edward Bough, a Level 3 practitioner of cardiovascular CT and an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Stanford, currently teaches CT reading and methodology to other cardiologists and recently presented a paper on contrast injection timing at the first scientific sessions of the Society of Cardiovascular CT.
