CLIMBING MANAGEMENT PLAN
Climbing Management Plan has been Approved!
Posted June 10, 2017
After many years of editing and waiting by the CTCC, Texas Parks & Wildlife has approved the Enchanted Rock State Natural Area Climbing Management Plan (CMP).

This plan is the product of Texas State Park staff and the Central Texas Climbing Committee through a Memorandum of Understanding, in place since 1993. The purpose of this plan is to provide a sustainable platform for the management of rock climbing activities at Enchanted Rock. The primary goal of this plan is to document policies, procedures and guidelines that have historically been applied to managing climbing activities at Enchanted Rock and to create a framework that allows equitable and sustainable use of the resource.

Four files can be downloaded from the bottom of this page:
-  PDF of the full CMP
-  PDF of the Fixed Protection Application Form (Appendix B of CMP)
-  PDF of the Retro Application Public Input Form (Appendix C of CMP)
-  PDF of the Historic Route Application Form (Appendix E of CMP)

The main effect of the approval of this CMP is that it lifts the moratorium on placement of new hardware. The form "Application for Placement of Fixed Protection" in Appendix B (Section 12) is to be submitted by anyone wishing to create a new bolted route, retrobolt an existing route, or remove existing hardware.

The 25th Granite Gripper was huge fun and raised $6,692.86! Big thanks to all who participated and contributed. Results of the climbing competition are HERE. Results of the speed comp are HERE.

The 2017 (26th) Granite Gripper will be on November 18, so mark your calendars now!

Bylaws of the CTCC Have Been Amended
Posted May 30, 2014

The bylaws were amended in April-May 2014 reducing the number of committee members from seven to five. The current lack of interest in committee membership triggered making the decision at this time, but this is a change we on the CTCC have been contemplating for quite a while. It only makes sense given that aside from bolt maintenance and working on the Climbing Management Plan, the committee has had little real work to do over the past few years.

The amended bylaws are on the Bylaws page of this website.
