Institutes of Science Education in California

There are approximately 38,000,000 people in the State of Caliifornia.  The Institute for Innovation in Science Teaching (IIST) at California State University Northridge, is one of a handful of institutes addressing the need for promoting best practices in science instruction.

The University Center for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Education (CESaME) was created to improve Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, teacher education and professional development, and the workforce pipeline in California. As a university-wide endeavor, CESaME is responsible for several cross-disciplinary campus initiatives that impact STEM education and teacher development programs across the state. CESaME cultivates collaborations among students, staff and faculty from across campus and nurtures partnerships with preschool through high school (P-12) teachers, community college faculty, as well as business, industry, government, and foundations in order to achieve its goals.

CSE is an experienced provider of quality space mission educational programs. Through an extensive national network, CSE leverages the unique expertise of science education specialists and other relevant partners bringing science discoveries to a wide audience.

Stanford University's Office of Science Outreach (OSO) encourages and assists Stanford faculty to engage in science outreach -- organized activities targeted at our nation's youth, school teachers, and general public that will increase their interest, understanding, and involvement in math, science, and engineering.
