Co-Founders


Floraine Berthouzoz is a fourth-year Ph.D. student at the UC Berkeley Visualization Lab. Her research is in computer graphics and computer vision. Floraine also worked and volunteered for many outreach programs including ETHZ Schnupperstudium and the summer legal fellowship program.



Undergraduate Student Organizers


Amy Tsai is from Mission Viejo, a suburb in Orange County, CA.  She started off at Berkeley as an Environmental Engineering major but switched to EECS after her first semester. She was a participant in CS KickStart 2011 and is now one of the organizers in charge of housing and applications for next year.  Some other fun things she is involved in include Concrete Canoe, AWE, and SWE.


Nina Partha is a sophomore EECS major. She was a participant in CS Kickstart 2011 and is back on the team as a grant coordinator because she thoroughly enjoyed the program last year.






Robyn Zhang is a first-year undergraduate intended computer science major at UC Berkeley. She was a CS Kickstart 2012 participant and is very glad to be an organizer in recruitment this year. She is also involved in fun organizations such as SWE and AWE. Some of her hobbies are dancing, and ice skating in the winter.


Ashleigh Cushman is a second-year Computer Science and Cognitive Science double major from the Philippines. She was part of CS KickStart's Team 2011 and is now one of the organizers in charge of applications and evaluations. She is involved in AWE, Hackers @ Berkeley, and volunteering at the local animal shelter.

Ruzena Bajcsy is a pioneering researcher in machine perception, robotics and artificial intelligence. She is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, as well as the Institute of Medicine. She is especially known for her cross-disciplinary talent and leadership in successfully bridging such diverse areas as robotics and artificial intelligence, engineering and cognitive science.

Alumni Organizers

Peggy Chi is a second year computer science Ph.D. student at UC Berkeley. She was the field trip organizer for CS KickStart in 2012.






Colleen Lewis is a Ph.D. graduate from  SESAME (Graduate Group in Science and Mathematics Education) at UC Berkeley. She is currently a professor of computer science at Harvey Mudd College.








































































































































Elizabeth Lin is a second-year undergraduate intended computer science major. She participated in CS Kickstart 2011 and is currently the recruitment organizer.











Stephanie Tung is a fourth-year math and computer science double major.  She was a resident assistant for Team 2011 and 2012, and is now working on the website!





Ilakya Palanisamy is currently a first-year EECS major. She was a Kickstart participant in 2012, and is back on the team as an organizer after having found Kickstart an extremely valuable experience. Some other things she is involved in include SWE an BEAM, through which she enjoys helping kids discover the joys of engineering!




I'm Yi-Lin Jao and I'm an EECS major here in Berkeley. I participated CS kickstart last year and now is organizing it this year. I really enjoyed the program and I learned a lot through it. I joined SWE, SWIS, AWE, and Hackers @ Berkeley during the semester. In my free time, I dance or play the piano.






David Wagner is a researcher in cryptography and computer 
security. He is currently working on software security and electronic voting. He participates in the TRUST and ACCURATE centers. In the past, he was a co-founder of the ISAACresearch group and worked on worked on wireless security, sensor network security, and cryptography.



































Durga Kandasamy graduated from UC Berkeley with an undergraduate degree in EECS. She was the application organizer from 2011 to 2012.




























Huda Khayrallah is a second-year undergraduate 
intending to major in Computer Science. She was a participant in CS Kickstart 2011 and is currently the organizer for CS Kickstart. 










Kate Rakelly is a sophomore EECS major. She was a participant of CS Kickstart 2011 and is back on the team this year as an industry contact because she enjoyed it so much. 







Parul Singh is from Saratoga, a small city near San Jose, CA. She is an EECS major in the Engineering College at UC Berkeley. She was a participant in CS KickStart 2012 and is now one of the organizers in charge of industrial relations. Some things Parul is in involved in include IEEE and AWE. In her free time she enjoys playing badminton and reading!












































































Raji Srikantan graduated from UC Berkeley with an undergraduate degree in EECS and also helped with the application process for CS Kickstart from 2011 to 2012.
