The CSI Office on Aging Ombudsman Program is the eyes, ears and voice in promoting quality of care and life for residents of nursing homes and/or assisted living facilities. Currently they work with 11 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities and 40 residential or assisted living communities with residents over 60 years of age. Last year they handled 380 consultations, visited 1,500 residents, worked on 342 complaints, and impacted approximately 2,319 individuals. Needless to say, they are very, very busy.

The Ombudsman Program currently is looking for volunteers to assist in this vital work.

As a volunteer in these facilities you will be giving residents greater opportunities to have personal contact with an Ombudsman. Volunteers are given an intensive training that includes: what to look for when visiting facilities, communication skills, along with rules and regulations for nursing homes and assisted living centers.

If you are interested in improving the quality of life for these residents call Amanda Scott, Regional Ombudsman or Christine Rynbrand, Ombudsman Volunteer Coordinator at:
