The Young Cryonicists

Shills, Claque's and Brainwashing

A Shill
Typically, a shill takes part in an elaborate swindling operation, and is usually committing a criminal offence - such as an associate of the seller bidding up prices in an auction, with no intention to buy the lot; or the decoy players of a dishonest gambling establishment, where the mark is lead to believe that he can make big winnings, by following the actions of the aforementioned shill players. If someone were to go about claiming they had been cryonically resurrected, then that person would be a shill.

A claque on the other hand is an organized group that bands together to applaud a performance, and thereby attempt to influence the audience to believe that it is better than it actually is - usually after receiving payment from the actors, or free tickets etc. from the management. This reached its height in 19th century France, where as well as clapping and cheering at operas and other theatrical events, some claques would memorize the better parts of the performances and call their neighbours' attention to them. This seems rather closer to the actions of Cryonics advocates here. (Ty J from London)

Bill Falloon surrounded by members of the "young cryoncists" including Micheal Smith Of ToV Fame!

Young people shouldn't be obsessed with death and helping to promote cryonics:  but there is a group of "young" people who we call the young cryonicists who have recently come out of the woodwork to promote cryonics on the internet.. They recently had a meeting called: The Teens & Twenties cryonicist event.   This was held January 8-10, 2010 in South Florida. A summary of the event by Ben Best was published in the Depressed Metabolism blog: http://bit.ly/4UkWrm

"The event was funded by Bill Faloon and the Life Extension Foundation. Cairn Idun, creator & coordinator of the Asset Preservation Group, created & coordinated this event as well. Although the Asset Preservation Group was created to devise means of protecting the assets of cryonicists during cryostasis, the group has expanded its concerns to many related issues, including nurturing future generations of cryonics activists to replace the current generation of aging cryonics activists. social networking, promoting cryonics through entertainment, cryonics-related science research, defending & promoting cryonics on the internet, and legal issues associated with cryonics. Cairn had the attendees separate into the five interest areas for discussion, and then we heard presentations from representatives of each group."

That's not a conspiracy theory that is straight from Ben Best's blog post - he unashamed to post that he is involved in an organisation to attempt to influence young minds and use them for marketing his pseudo-science. The event also encouraged lots of alcohol drinking (hopefully not the teens) and Bill Faloon even mailed his own brand anti-alcohol antioxidants and propaganda to the attendees free of charge. Ben Best also set up the Young Cryoncists facebook page so you can see all this for yourselves: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=250977974238 - We couldn't make it up!
Although it is stereotypic that cryonicists are single, male computer nerds, 34% of these young cryonicists were female, and quite a few of them were involved with the entertainment industry.

Get em drunk, give em loads of free gifts and they will support our cause

We are not talking about a nice little group of nerdy young people who have a fascination with death. What we are talking about here are some rather disturbing people who have taken it on themselves to use young people to promote their twisted idea's. It's worth mentioning that terrorist organisations use very similar tactics to recruit young people to commit suicide bombing atrocities - the promise is the same:  "the Future (afterlife) is better than now so support our cause to guarantee your access to it".

No doubt the organisers put the idea into the young attendees that their future suspension was in jeopardy unless they carried on the torch. We have seen a lot of posts cropping up on the internet by young people like Eliezer_Yudkowsky who (attended the teens and twenties event) and since has posting a lot of "pro-cryonics essays" where he criticises parents who do not sign their kids up to cryonics. Eliezer also fancies himself as a expert on other subjects like rationalism (!) and AI

Luke Parrish who crops up all over the internet posting his support of  mass cryonics (even though he maintains he doesn't yet have a contract for cryonics he's just a keen supporter) and attempts to discredit sceptics discussing the subject. His Facebook page says he was homeschooled by his parents so he can be forgiven for having a warped view on science - I blame the parents! We don't actually know 100% if Luke attended this event but we would make a bet he did as he has been very active since the event. It could also be argued that "Luke Parrish" is not a real person and is actually Charles Platt and/or perhaps another cryonics "expert". Luke seems to be very knowledgeable about a subject which he is not trained for (he says he's a IT support technician) and has a LOT of time on his hands to post up cryonics propaganda, which makes us suspect he is not a 26 year old kid from Idaho who just wants to help people (with Cryonics). At the very least he is being fed information from Cryonics organisations - "Lukes" style of writing is very similar  to Platt's  and Platt is well known for stepping up to defend/promote cryonics and it is rumoured he has used multiple identities of cryonics forums.

Cryogirl also attended this event (with her family) and although recently she has gone quiet  was a pretty active poster on the subject, attempted to be a cryonics pin-up girl and even attempted to "reason" irrevocable trust funds on Death with the people on The Rick Ross Forum.  "Korben Dallas" is currently exposing leaked e-mails on his webpage which implicate James Yount and Bill Faloon in some dodgy shenanigans. More on Cryogirl as it develops... (UPDATE - this information keeps getting removed from websites what was up yesterday seems to have been taken down - It would seem some people are rather worried about what they did to Cryogirl and her family and are trying to get it removed)

My "favourite" little cryosexpot David Styles is also attended this event and perhaps got a bit drunk and played footsie with fellow young cryoncists in the hot-tub. David is getting good at promoting the cause and when not charming the pants off Richard and Judy he is getting middle class housewives to sign up to his rather dodgy self help organisation disguised as a charity.

It would appear that the Next Generation of Cryonicists is here to stay and they are getting noisy....
