The comic project is just about finished.  I still have three students working hard to finish before the end of the school year, which happens to be this Friday!   Here are just a couple of examples from the class.

Drawing 2: Reduction Drawing

posted Apr 10, 2013, 6:10 AM by Kristina Dvorak   [ updated Apr 10, 2013, 6:12 AM ]

This is a project I have been using on and off since I did my student teaching.  The students seem to enjoy it...mostly, because I give them a piece of candy to start with!  The idea is that they take pictures of the candy in stages of reduction.  They have to show at least five stages.  I print out the images and the students cut out the images and arrange it into an interesting composition.  This time around, I let them choose what medium to work with.  They have been working with color pencil, so many of them chose to stay with that while others mixed it up with charcoal or ink.

There are just a couple of the photographs from Photo 1. The students were given a new Olympic Challenge each day. This challenge is supposed to challenge them to think about subjects all around their current environments as well as the variety of compositions that can be applied to a subject.
