Genealogy

When the Crumbaugh Bibles and family history were put on file in the library in the fall of 1977, the J.T. and E.J. Crumbaugh Library Genealogy Section was born.  Because of the efforts of the community, this section has grown beyond our expectations ~ we currently have over 500 family histories available for those interested in tracing their roots.  And if you are a genealogy novice, we have several "how to" books to help you get started.

Everyone is invited to participate by bringing in their family histories, which we will catalogue, file, and make accessible to the public.  If you do not have an extra copy to donate, you may bring it in and we will copy it for you, put it into booklet form, and place it in our files.  County histories, atlases, plat books, city directories, census records, and other books of that nature may be donated as well.  These valuable records will be available for research at the library, never to be checked out.

LeRoy Journals and Yearbooks
One of the greatest aids to researchers at the Crumbaugh Library are the LeRoy Journals on microfilm.  An index to the marriages and deaths recorded in the LeRoy Journals is available.  Also helpful is a collection of LeRoy High School Yearbooks and a notebook listing all past graduates.  Feel free to come in and remininse about the good ole' days as you browse through yearbooks preserving memories as far back as 1916. (the 1916 yearbook has a list of alumni as far back as the class of 1878).  We have every LeRoy High School Yearbook from 1920 through 2003 except 1986, 1988, and 1991.  If anyone has a yearbook from these years that they would be willing to donate to the library, we would be VERY EXCITED.

Saybrook Area Obituaries and Marriages
The "Saybrook Area Obituaries and Marriages" notebook is indexed and helpful to researchers
of that area.

Farmer City Genealogical & Historical Society
The J.T. and E.j. Crumbaugh Library receives The Farmer City Mirror, the quarterly, indexed publication of the Farmer City Genealogical & Historical Society.

McLean County Genalogical Society
The J.T. and E.J. Crumbaugh Memorial Library is a member of the McLean County Genealogical Society and receives their publications, including their quarterly publication of "The Gleanings".

Oak Grove Cemetery Records
We have the most comprehensive records of Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy.
