Life As It Happens and Other Randomness

  • The Gift of Giving I have discovered various ways of teaching my daughter how important it is to help others. Donating clothing and toys; other items folks need (toothbrushes, soaps, food etc...)...it's such a great feeling knowing you are able to help. The little things in life make all the difference.Yearly, my daughter goes through everything and piles up things for kids at local shelters, community aid stores, her school and even just things she thinks her friends will like. This year, I took it one step further. We joined a team to assist with fundraising for a friend of mine. It's hard to express but sometimes, I feel like I can't do enough to help. I say, this ...

  • Sticking to it I thought I should update this on a bit more of a personal level. I suck at life. The only things I'm really good at, seem to be all the little things no one notices--not to discredit these things at all...these are things that give me great joy....cooking, cleaning, teaching children...I'm a very old fashioned gal and I take pride in my loyalty, trust, honesty; values and morals are very important to me but I seldom express it. Being told to 'loosen up' breaks my heart sometimes-when matters of the heart are involved or if a lesson should be learned. I say 'wrecked' because I didn't wreck it so much as I was caught in a flash flood. I had to have my entire engine replaced. Though I have insurance, I still had to pay a high deductible (having a high deductible means you pay less per month for insurance). Unfortunately, I did not manage to save enough money to keep in the bank to cover the deductible. So, again, I took a loan out against my retirement. I was able to pay the deductible, and the fees for the rental car (which is not covered by my insurance), gas, groceries, and paid off some credit cards ...

  • SILLY THINGS KIDS SAY From an adult perspective, children do say the silliest things. You must always give them credit though, children learn by seeing, doing,  listening, observing...in all, they learn from watching you. Regardless if you realize this or not, your child hears and sees every you do and will make their own judgement  Their judgement at first may be mimicking yours; in time however, they will find their own words and actions. You have been warned.bacon organic food funny kids jokes bacon eggs organic meat ASUS GOOGLE Google Plus Nexus Galaxy SI have been asked to make an entry to track silly things kids say. All anonymously, I have compiled the following. I hope you find this amusing  refreshing ...

  • 2012 - Year End Thoughts As 2012 comes to an end, I look back at the year and realize how far I have come. All I have done, and all I have accomplished. Next year, I will jot down goals I have completed, fun things my daughter and I have done, and other great things and put them in a jar so that at the end of 2013 we can review how great our year was. 2013 is going to be great, I can feel it!!! What was your biggest accomplishment of 2012? What is your favorite memory of 2012? My biggest accomplishment was learning how to budget and paying off debts. My favorite memory: I have so many but my top two are: hiking ...
