July 2016 Staff Meeting

Post date: Jul 8, 2016 4:36:29 PM

Follow ups from last meeting- Oar handles- new station for handles with blood on them, so just put them in the station.

Bruce comments:

Notes about safety:

Parking lot- if you get here after 6 AM, you have to park in the little swimming pool parking lot or the other side of the bridge. We should make little cards and spread them around.

Small accidents:

Marilyn had a wire through her finger

Adam cut his wrist on rigger

A little fender bender with the white van and parked car

Thank you for making sure they were little things and not big things. Safety bag in the launch was very effective.

We are going on a big trip: 3 buses and 3 trailers- potential for disaster is high on that trip, so be super super careful. Take extra time.

Survey had super interesting results.

It is Teds job to put in the elbow grease to make steps 1, 2, & 3 solid and reliable.

1.how much do you get paid

2.when do you work

3. what is your job description

4. onboarding

Ted comments:

What we can do as an organization is thinking about making 1% changes across the board.

1st thing in the HR audit was getting the employee files figured out. It's crucial that all staff fill out the paperwork so that we can run payroll. Without complete paperwork, CRI can't pay our employees.

Anyone hired here must meet with Nona, Tara, or Ted to fill out this paperwork -- either before they start or within 3 days of their official start date.

We have been working on a new payroll system. It will include rates of pay by the hour. This is for transparency. Online scheduling, communication function, and minute by minute updates about payroll. It will eliminate what we are doing now. There are 26 pay cycles. Looking at Paylocity. Giving an enormous discount. Changes will rollout in about 6 weeks.

Everyone here needs to have a contract. Pay, terms, job description, dates.

Approach is how to make incremental changes.

Survey results:

1.      I feel valued by CRI = 5.9 out of 10

2.      I have confidence in leadership = 5.9

3.      I am treated with respect = 7.0

4.      I can advance my career = 5.8

5.      I trust what CRI tells me = 5.4

6.      My skills are being maximized = 5.8

7.      I have the right tools for the job = 7.1

Average =7.2
