FUNNY CRICKET PICTURES
Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh is probably God sent cricket players decended right from the heaven to appease the never ending thirst of the Indian people for the game of cricket. The duo has been gifted with the entire fire prowess to annihilate the opposition and to the sheer delight of the cricket lovers.
3rd February,2009 will go as a rare day in cricket history when both combined together in a feast of cricket festival at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. In the five matches ODI series against Sri Lanka, Indians were 2-0 up. The stage was all set for a Sri Lankan fight back in the third ODI at Premadasa to keep the series alive in their own backyards. But who knew that the deadly duo will combine together on such a day where the Sri Lankans will be clueless spectators on the field. After the early exit of Tendulkar and Gambhir, the Indian team was on a spot of bother. The duo came together when Indian was 24 runs for two early wickets in the fourth over of the innings. Then came the feast of runs which Premadasa had never witnessed. A blistering 221 runs stand in just 167 balls for the third wicket between Sehwag and Yuvraj.
It was Yuvraj who was the initial aggressor. Sehwag was content to give the maximum strike to his partner Yuvraj. But slowly and steadily, Sehwag too joined the party. The stadium went berserk with boundaries all around. The Sri Lankan fielders went helter scepter. Their captain Mehela Jayawardene remained a mute spectator and probably could not believe what is going on. Their star spinners in the likes of Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis proved ineffective. So were their seamers. The killer instinct vanished. All the damage done by this pugnacious duo. Both Sehwag and Yuvraj went on to score centuries. The centuries which will be remembered by Indian cricket fans for centuries. A rare third wicket stand of 221 runs. Sehwag contributed 116 runs which included 17 majestic boundaries to the fence. And Yuvraj of Indian cricket did not shy away too. He scored an authentic 117 runs including 17 boundaries and a mighty six.
Yuvraj rightly showered praises while receiving the “Man of the Match” trophy for Virender Sehwag. It is a day to remember for a long time to come.
