46th ANNUAL STAUB/BARNES CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL

SATURDAY, October 5th, 2013

 

LOCATION:                      Crescenta Valley County Park located just off the 210 (Foothill) Freeway.  Get off at Pennsylvania Avenue, head south to the first traffic light head west on Honolulu one block to the Park. Buses will be directed to a parking lot at Crescenta Valley HS about 1 mile east of the park. 

 

ENTRY DEADLINE             October 1, 2013

ENTRY FEE                          $40.00 per division entered or $10.00 per individual made payable to Crescenta Valley

                                            High School ASB, Kenny Staub Invitational or $270 for all divisions

DIVISIONS                          BOYS:        Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Sophomore, Freshmen

                                           GIRLS:        Varsity, Junior Varsity, Sophomore, Freshmen

                                                There are 3 divisions based on size and strength of school.  Some freshman, sophomore and jv        

                                                levels will have two divisions.

 

COURSE                         ALL RACES, BOYS AND GIRLS, will run over the 3-mile course. The course is mainly on grass and dirt paths with some sand and asphalt.

                                    The park is semi-hilly set among beautiful Valley Oaks. Much of the race can be viewed by spectators. The 3 mile course is comparable

                                     time-wise to Mt. San Antonio course. 

                                               

RULES:   You must have a varsity squad entered before you can enter a JV team. Sophomores must run Sophomore division unless they are on the Varsity, then they may run Varsity. Freshmen must run Freshmen division unless on the Varsity, then they may run Varsity. JV division will be comprised of  Juniors or Seniors who do not qualify to run on your Varsity.

 

AWARDS                             The first 25 finishers in each race will receive a medal.  Team plaques will be awarded to the top

                                                three teams in each race.    

                                                Each winning team (7 members) in each race will be presented a CHAMPION STAUB-                                                                        BARNES T SHIRT             

SWEEPSTAKES  Sweepstakes trophies will be given to the school with the best overall times accumulated in                                                            

Varsity (7), Junior Varsity (5), and Sophomore (5) in the BOYS & GIRLS divisions.

 

MEET TIME                          First race starts at 8:15AM with the last race scheduled to start at 1:10PM.

 

CONCESSIONS                  Full concession stand with pancake breakfast.  Meet T shirts will be sold.

 

DRESSING                           Dress at home or use the restrooms at the park

FACILITIES

 

HISTORY                             Many of the state’s finest teams have competed in this meet over the last 45 years.  The individual

                                                course record was set in 1978 by Jeff Nelson of Burbank at 14:49.  Girls record is held by Anita

                                                Siraki of Hoover who ran 17:18 in 2000.  The all time team record was set by Loyola in the 2007         

                                                Del Rey League finals at 80:15.  The course and Staub meet record for girls is 92:12 set in 2008 by

                                                Saugus.  This is a great meet on a great course.  Hope to see you October 5.
