Cadets Wahey!

posted 8 May 2013 16:14 by Laura Neville   [ updated 8 May 2013 16:15 ]

First Monday of cadet racing with 6 boats joining in. Some of our old hands (Kizzy, Tom and Eoghan) were joined on Monday by some new faces (Orin, Thom and Johnnie). There was some very close racing all through the session. There was an upset in the second race with Orin winning the race on handicap and also managing to bring his Topper home ahead of the Lasers on the water!
Fantastic photos taken by Simon Pledger. Looking forward to next week where there should be even more on the racecourse.

How many miles do you think they can swim between them in an hour?!

Craignish Boat Club cadets are helping to raise money for the new club site at Eilean Traighte. They are going to swim as far as they can, for one hour, in Mid Argyll Swimming Pool. The swim will take place on 21st October 2012.

We have 30 cadets ranging in age from six to sixteen.

How far do you think they will be able to swim between them? They are aiming to swim 10 miles - but it might be less, or more!

Please join in by sponsoring them ... speak to a cadet, find sponsorship forms in Ardfern Yacht Centre chandlery and Ardfern Village Stores or email Carol indicating how much you are willing to give per mile that the whole group swim.

Let the fun begin! CBC Cadets 23rd April 2012

A great night with wind varying from zero to lots - everybody having fun ages 3 to more than 63! With Nick Purdy away, it's taken us a little time to work out how to use Sailwave but we've got there and are pleased to post the 2012 Cadet Race Results as they stand so far ... 2012 Cadet Series 1

Week 1 (23rd April) saw 3 races in before wild weather chased the fleet ashore. The results for the 3rd race of the night show Tom Graham apparently racing on his  own but it should be documented he was being chased by Guy (commodore yes but still a cadet at heart) in a Pico. Tom beat Guy over the water in this race but as a Pico is slower Guy may have thought his reputation was safe enough. So there was a calculation crying out to be done and (drum roll) .. on calculation there was a 2 sec difference .. with Tom in the lead! Well done Tom .. but mind your back next Monday!!
