CBC Bash 2015

posted 1 Sep 2015, 06:36 by Laura Neville   [ updated 1 Sep 2015, 06:59 ]

After the success of last year's entry into the Bart's Bash event, we decided to do a similar mini-regatta event again this year. So on Sunday 30th September we hosted our own CBC Bash. Race briefing at 11am with first race start at 11:30am. Race course was a simple pontoon to black rock and back with a half course for the Opi entrants. We had 20 entrants ranging from Opis to a Wharram catamaran and great fun was had by all. Thanks to Carol for doing race results (see below), Tony and Bruce for safety boat duty and Richard and Colin for manning the BBQ. Photos to follow soon.

Results are final as of 30/8/15

First race of the 3rd Series

posted 19 Aug 2012, 11:56 by Laura Neville

The final results of the 2nd series sees a well deserved win for Clive Brown with second and third places going to Andy Chadwick and Tony Tucker. Full 2nd series results here.
The third and final series got under way last Thursday night with a course derived from desperation. Without the outboard for the Rescue boat we decided to have a reaching start with Carol running the starts from the Rescue boat on its mooring. Then out into the middle of the lagoon to do a triangle then home. Wind was very gusty up to a Force 5 at times. 5 boats made it out with Andy Chadwick crewing for Clive Brown in a Fifteen, Kirsty Richardson crewing for the first time in a while for Guy Neville and three lasers - David Graham, Tom Graham and Angus Richardson.
First race saw a tight race with Guy and Kirsty just edging it from Clive and Andy. In one of the biggest gusts of the night Angus capsized at the gybe mark. Third was David Graham.
All 3 races were close with three different winners. In the second race Clive and Andy came out on top with Guy second and Tom third this time, and in the final race David Graham split the Fifteens on the water and scored a well deserved first with Guy in second and Clive in third.
A great way to spend your birthday I say - thanks Kirsty. Results for series 3 can be found here. See you all next week - just before the Round Shuna 2012 Weekend - cheers Guy

Happy Holidays / Series 2

Summer racing going well with a rare old mix of boats on the water every Thursday. Tonight saw 2 guests joining us .. one from Chanonry who brought his Topper Omega for a play and the other in a club Laser, Willie Tucker, who grew up in Ardfern. So six boats on the water with Iain Catterwell and Mike Fleming joining in the series in their Fifteen just in the water last week. Thanks this week to Peter Richardson for being race officer and huge thanks to Gordon and Mabs Anderson for doing this duty in the previous few weeks. We also have a fantastic new starting system with flags and mast on the rescue boat due to Gordon's hard work. See race results here .. sorry so slow to post! Two more Thursdays will see the end of this series (which I'm afraid I'll miss as I'm on my hols) and then Thursday 16th starts the third and final 2012 series. This series will run until Thursday September 20th.
Cheers,
Guy

June Series 2012 ends

posted 28 Jun 2012, 12:48 by Laura Neville

So final race of the June Series tonight ... a distinct lack of Grahams (lightweights) but 5 boats risked the thunder and lightning and sailed 2 great races ... 3 Fifteens, Tony and Fiona in the Wayfarer and Ali MacLeod in his Laser. Well done Clive Brown for winning the first race .. both races were very close run right to the finish with Andy Chadwick in the second race narrowly losing out to me and my top notch ten year old crew. Final race results here.
Summer Holiday Series starts next Thursday .. see you there!

posted 14 Jun 2012, 13:20 by Laura Neville

Bit windy tonight! 5 boats (or bits of) on the water .. 3 Toppers and 2 Fifteens. Well done to David and Tom for a race win each taking Tom storming to the top of the leader board. Need to up my game here .. try not break the mast next week .. and maybe a bucket round Tom's rudder .. See you all next Thursday at 6:30pm. Cheers, Guy

First Thursday Race - 7th June 2012

posted 12 Jun 2012, 15:34 by Laura Neville   [ updated 12 Jun 2012, 15:35 ]

We had a good turn out last week for the first Thursday race with 7 boats on the water and with 3 races sailed. The 4 Flying Fifteens on the water had a close run battle. It was good to see Allan Stewart in his new FF with Tony Tucker at the helm and Andy Chadwick helming what was Nick Purdy's old FF with Callum, instructor from Craobh Haven Watersports, as crew. The other FF sailors were Clive Brown with Gillie Hind and myself with Carol Graham (in the Graham's FF). Also out on the water was Angus Richardson in his Laser with David and Tom Graham battling it out in Toppers.
Many thanks to Pete Richardson and Peter Davies for manning the rescue boat and taking results whcih can be viewed here ...  http://sailwave.com/results/CBC2012juneseries.htm
Next race night ... Thursday 14th June (6:30pm for the first start gun) ... anyone looking for a crew/helm/boat please get in touch!
Cheers,
Guy
