.Lughnasa Festival at Craggaunowen
Mogh Roith Historical Re-enactment Society will stage an event at Craggaunowen on Sunday & Monday the 1st & 2nd of August 2010 from 11am - 5pm each day.
The ancient Festival of Lughnasadh honoured the Celtic God Lugh
and celebrates the arrival of the harvest season.
Each day of the
festival there will be several displays demonstrating various aspects
of Ireland's history and heritage from different time periods, with
showcase events such as a Brehon Law Trial, Hand-to-hand combat
demonstrations, A real Celtic Chariot, Roman Encampment, Bronze Casting. Blacksmithing and much more..
The Lughnasa event will take place on the Sunday & Monday of the August Bank holiday 11-5pm, with last admissions at 4p.m.
Normal entry fee applies.
To mark the opening of the season at Craggaunowen Shannon Heritage has organised the Easter Bunny to make a special guest appearance there on Easter Sunday April 4th 2010
The event will be a fun-filled day for all the family and the Easter Bunny has promised to give away hundreds of Easter eggs to mark the end of the Lenten period and the chocolate famine!
The event will be a fun-filled day for all the family and the Easter Bunny has promised to give away hundreds of Easter eggs to mark the end of the Lenten period and the chocolate famine! A family fun day is promised with children being offered the opportunity to enjoy the bouncing castle and practise their bouncing skills for the Easter bunny. Traditional musicians will be on hand to lend a festive atmosphere. There will be a puppet show featuring Easter chickens and bunnies, and a magic show, always a family favourite. A traditional story teller will be on hand to regale visitors with stories from times gone by.
