What we can offer artists and makers

Studios, workshops and office space at Craft Renaissance are available to rent. We have a variety of workshops to suit most needs including those with access to 3 phase for machinery and kilns.

We will provide appropriate equipment, where we can, and will assist you in setting up your workshop to enable you to start expressing your creative side straightaway.

You can benefit from a supportive community onsite with access to makers with complementary skills. John, Helen and resident artisans are always happy to offer a hand or creative advice and inspiration when needed.

Working together to reduce our impact on the environment

John renovated all the barn buildings from their dilapidated state  back in 1998 and it has been a long term project constantly improving our facilities.

The barns were renovated and slate roof built using recycled and refurbished local materials and locally sourced hardwood.

The gallery and all workshops in the main barn are heated by a ground source loop and heat exchange pump with underfloor heating pipes.

The main driveway has a soakaway stone surface to reduce run-off and water loss compared with a tarmac surface.

We are working towards lowering our energy consumption by changing over to low wattage LED lighting in the gallery, shop and workshops.

The two storey main gallery windows are double glazed to reduce thermal loss and as they are south facing also make use of solar gain on sunny days.

We compost all the coffee grounds, teabags and kitchen waste from the cafe and do our bit for recycling and reuse of wrapping and paper.

We use biodegradable bubble wrap.

We charge 5p for any plastic bag supplied in accordance with regulations in Wales and the money collected is donated to support Gwent Wildlife Trust.
