The Special Events Planning class (COM 446) at Cal Poly Pomona teaches Communication students about the logistics of event planning through the “learn by doing” philosophy. The Special Events Planning class was designed by Professor Vinita Dhingra in 1989 with the goal of providing students with the opportunity to plan, organize, and implement special events. This upper level class takes a hands-on approach and requires cooperation and collaboration among the students.Students in the class implement an actual event each quarter from start to finish. The event that takes place each quarter is different but connects the Communication Department in some way.

The event for this quarter (Fall 2012) is : OverCOMe Stress
