Challenging Wind Turbine Developments in South Craven - Cowling, Laneshawbridge, Blacklane Ends, & Lothersdale,
Wind Turbine development companies are vigourously targeting the ridge area between Black Lane Ends & Cowling Hill. Already a number of 15 - 20 m high turbines have been built.
Permission for 2 x 46m tall turbines has just been granted after an appeal at Hollin Raikes Farm, Cowling.
We are waiting for information on the outcome of an application for 5 turbines at Black Lane Ends
Many local people are not in favour of the developments and have joined the South Pennine Landscape Action Group (provisional name)
SPLA, will be mounting a campaign to challenge the developers .
If the developments were to be considered as a single development they would certainly be classed as a wind farm.
Information from landowners who have been approached suggests the developers a have made them tempting offers, suggesting installing wind turbines on their land, is an easy way to make a quick buck or two.
MP's Julian Smith & Andrew Stephenson are concerned about the proliferation of applications. Mr Smith has asked for a meeting with the Planning Inspectorate over their role .
Please write to your MP if you are concerned. Details on the "What you can do" page.
