The Most Up-To-Date Oz ListThis is the most comprehensive list of the Wonderful Books of Oz that has ever been compiled in one place. It lists all historically accurate Oz books regardless of whether or not I personally like them. Many of them are...well...not Oz at its best. However, it does not take into consideration any title that attempts to slander or defame our fine country. Hence, while some recent fiction may be interesting, it is peripheral to the purposes of this list. All books that make a determined effort to be faithful to the series, with a reasonable margin for error on the author’s part, are listed here. The books by Roger Baum, previously all listed on this page, have been removed after considerable deliberation. They were always highly questionable at best, and in light of his most recent works, it just seemed criminal to leave any of them on. The same was true of Onyx Madden’s (Jim Nitch’s) The Mysterious Chronicles of Oz, Gina Wickwar’s The Hidden Prince of Oz, and Jack Snow’s A Murder in Oz. In light of Donald Abbott’s How the Wizard Saved Oz, it might be time to consider dropping his titles as well, though he has written some that were reasonably acceptable. All years are, for the most part, accurate to the year in which an event took place, not the year in which the book was written or published. Many of these titles have, in fact, yet to be published! Not all years are completely firm and, as new books are being written every day, the list may not be 100% complete. Please send any additions/corrections to LionCoward@gmail.com. Please put the word “Oz” in the subject field.
