McAdoo is the nephew of NBA Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo. The go-to descriptor for McAdoo seems to be "old school". He is very skilled and plays with a high motor, but doesn't look for the highlight play.
McAdoo needs to add strength to play his natural four position in the NBA, but he has all the tools. He may struggle to carve out a role with returners Harrison Barnes, John Henson, and Tyler Zeller on the roster, so a two-year stay in Chapel Hill isn't out of the question. McAdoo should be similar to Carlos Boozer at the NBA level.

McAdoo did have a tough time finding a role as a freshman, but Barnes, Henson, and Zeller are all gone. This time around, he'll be the go-to big man for a team with a lot of perimeter talent. The game seemed too fast for J Mike last year, but he showed flashes of elite athleticism, especially in the rebounding game. I'm still not sure he's one year away from being an NBA contributor, but the pedigree is there, and Roy Williams is a good coach. At this point, his ceiling is Chris Webber and is floor is fellow Tar Heel Brandon Wright.
