The municipality of Norristown has initiated a process to complete its Weed & Seed program. The public is invited to a community meeting to be held on THURSDAY, Sept. 1, 2011, 6:30pm at the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library.
The library, located at 1001 Powell Street, has a parking garage and street parking is available.
For those who are familiar with the Weed & Seed program and its structure, you are free to come and share your past experiences. However, the focus will be on reorganizing the current 2011 leadership structure and moving forward to appropriate approximately $25,000 budgeted for programming in Norristown through this program. The 2011 Steering Committee members received letters inviting them to work to complete this project.
The public is invited to share input and past experiences, but the Steering Committee will ultimately lead this process.
In order to help you prepare for this meeting, several documents are linked to below. These documents will enable you to understand the history, structure and programming of the Weed & Seed program.
They include the following:
1) Weed & Seed Bylaws
2) The Weed & Seed Revitalization Plan
3) The Weed & Seed Structure
4) JAG Weed & Seed Guidelines
5) Request for Proposal Guidelines
Admittedly, these documents can be difficult to read and or understand. However, a representative from the State of Pennsylvania, who has managed this program and worked with Norristown, will be on hand to explain the rules and answer questions.
There may be some openings to serve on the Steering committee of Weed & Seed. We ask any interested person to please bring a letter of interest to the meeting on Sept. 1. Additionally, please bring one copy of your resume.
Thank you for your interest in bettering your community!
