My City, My New York: Famous New Yorkers Share Their Favorite Places
What do famous people love to do during their free time in the Big Apple?

Most New Yorkers, even famous ones, have cherished rituals and favorite places that connect them to their city in unique ways. They have their beloved restaurants, museums, parks, galleries, landmarks, haunts, and hideaways. It may be watching tango dancers on Saturday nights in Central Park. Or riding a bike over the Brooklyn Bridge for a slice of Grimaldi's pepperoni pizza and a view of the Manhattan skyline from across the East River. Perhaps it entails choosing from the many varieties of bread at Rock Hill Bake House in the Union Square Greenmarket or simply walking across 46th Street and ending up at Joe Allen, the great Broadway hangout.

So imagine a book in which Matthew Broderick shares his favorite bike ride. Nora Ephron describes where she buys discounted roses in every imaginable color. Edward Norton reveals his favorite restaurant. Daniel Boulud describes his favorite pizza joint and where he buys cheese. My City, My New York lets you experience the city as some of your favorite New Yorkers do and get a peek into parts of the town that they hold dear.

In a refreshing step beyond the usual travel guides and tourist listings, My City, My New York quotes VIPs and gives readers something truly unique: a chance to experience the city the way some of its most notable residents do. The activities and establishments included are diverse, often eclectic, and, most-importantly, nonexclusive--you don't need to be a celebrity to enjoy them.

While offering new and creative possibilities for exploration, My City, My New York is also a love letter to the Big Apple and will touch even the most jaded New Yorkers.

Celebrities include:

- Matthew Broderick
- Woody Allen

Spinal Injury
Spinal Injury
Even though the old lady did a wild tumble - this driver seemed to take the worst of the hit. ***************************** ******************************* The spine bones of the neck, the cervical vertebrae, may be fractured or displaced if the neck is twisted, compressed, or hyper-extended. A fracture (break) or displacement of the cervical spine (C-spine) can cut or press on the spinal cord. Always suspect a C-spine injury if there is neck pain after significant injury. When in doubt, consider the cervical spine injured until evaluated by medical personnel. Here's How: If the victim is unconscious, protect the airway by placing the victim in the recovery position. Place padding under the head to help keep the neck straight. If the victim is awake, place both hands on either side of the victim's head to steady it. Hold the victim's head gently but firmly to keep it from moving. Any movement of the cervical spine may make a C-spine injury worse. Only release the head to help with the victim's airway, breathing or circulation, or if the scene becomes unsafe. Continue to immobilize the victim's head until medical help arrives and remind the victim not to move. Tips: Statistically, C-spine injuries are very rare. Don't commit yourself to immobilizing the cervical spine if the victim needs other first aid. If more than one rescuer is available, use the two person technique to roll the victim into the recovery position.

so there i was snapping a few shots of this guy playing when i decided it might be nice to get a lower angle. i went to kneel down and put my knee directly on top of a beer pint glass that had the whole top rim broken off exposing only sharp glass. it's my first photography injury and hopefully my last. i spent 3.5 hours in the ER until I got stitched back up. 4:45 am and i was finally tenuously riding my bike back home. ugh.
