Garrett joined the United States Marine Corps in January of 2009.  He comes from a strong military back ground with his father, and both grand fathers serving in various branches of the military. After SOI, Garrett was stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii with Third Battalion Third Marines were he was deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. 

    On his second deployment, Garrett stepped on an IED in southern Afghanistan and lost both of his legs. He lost his left left above the knee, his right leg below the knee, suffered shrapnel wounds on various parts of his body and had a mild TBI. After six weeks in the hospital he was discharged and is currently living in Bethesda, MD where is undergoing extensive rehab at the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Bethesda.  

    Garrett and his wife, Courtney, will be in living in Bethesda for the next several months while Garrett is recovering.
