Copplestone Village And The Hamlet Of Knowle
Welcome To Our Village Website!

Copplestone is a mid-Devon village - 4 miles from Crediton or Bow and 13 miles from Exeter or Okehampton.
It is said that the Copplestone Cross at the centre of the village also marks the centre of Devon. This cross is understood to date from the 10th century, and is listed as a scheduled ancient monument.

  • Tastes of the East arrives in Copplestone! October saw Copplestone School PTA running its inaugural annual curry and quiz night, which was supported by 66 people this year. The evening consisted of an all you can eat buffet of scintillating dishes cooked at the school by Richard Narramore, head chef at Exeter University followed by a dessert. The after dinner quiz was won on a tie break question- the teachers’ team coming a commendable second. The evening raised a fantastic £707, which is a fantastic amount and we would like to send a huge THANK YOU to everybody that contributed their time, funds and energy to both events.  The evening could not have happened without the generosity of the companies that donated the food to the curry ...

  • Lighting Up the Parish A BIG THANKYOU to everyone who supported our community event this year.  We had a fantastic start to the evening, with our children’s procession and torches being led by the pulsating rhythms produced by Street Heat Samba Band.  The school children sang songs and recited poetry at the two ‘stations’ on the parade around the village before finally assembling at the bonfire site.   Having to rebuild the bonfire, after it was set alight  earlier in the week, created a good deal of additional work but the incident did demonstrate how the community can pull together and overcome these unfortunate set backs.  I hope the young man (and his friends) responsible for lighting the fire on the Tuesday night will ...

  • Memorial Seat for Brian Glover As you may all know, this year we have lost one of Copplestone’s great friends, Brian Glover. He lived in the village all his life and did so much for the church and the village; he would help anyone. Brian and his wife, Tris, ran the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal for orphans in Bulgaria and for many years went over to Bulgaria with friends of the village to help rebuild the orphanage. Brian was a wonderful carpenter and many houses in the area have his beautiful carpentry. The CRA would like to put up a oak memorial seat on the Recreation Field and will put in £150 towards the seat. We are asking for donations so that the village ...
