Independence Day Message - Satish C Gupta

Dear Colleagues,

ON the threshold of the 62 nd year of our independance, as we fondly remember and pay homage to our great freedom fighters and martyrs for their supreme sacrifice, I feel a great sense of pride in saying that India has indeed come a long way on this parth of socio-economic progress desptite many chanllegnes. And,so have we, in a corporate context ... for it is with great pleasure that I wish to inform you that our company, Hindustan Copper Limited, after breaking free from the shackles of losses three years ago, has graduated to another level of freedom by virtue of having bagged the status of Miniratna (Category - 1). These simply could not have been a more auspicious occasion to inform you about achievement of our company.

Empowered with the Miniratna status, the Board of Directors of the company would have greater operational autonomy to implement strategic objectives in pursuit of speedy growth in business. 'Within the framework of Government guidelines, the Board can now take faster decisions on investments and form strategic alliances / joint ventrues. This will greatly help placing new projects, modernization, etc, on the fast track.
On the last Independance Day anniversary (2007), I had shared with you vision of becoming a Navratna Compnay. With the collective and dedicated efforts put in by all of you, we are today one step closer to it.
