Directions to Copeland Cottage and Harrison Camp Site

Haddon Lane, Maer, Newcastle under Lyme. ST5 5EE 

Location - Grid reference ;- 801385

on OS Landranger Series 127 Stafford & Telford or OS Explorer map 243 Market Drayton 

Travelling from Newcastle under Lyme direction on the A53

From Newcastle take the A53 and travel west through Baldwins Gate. On leaving the village, the road bends to the right. On this bend take the narrow lane to the left, after 50 yards bear right at a fork in the road then follow the road to the A51 where you turn right.

After ½ mile take the lane on your left signed Maer.

     * (Be careful in the village, the road becomes very narrow past Maer Hall) 

In the village take the first left turn signed Chapel Chorlton.  This is Haddon Lane.

Follow the narrow lane up the hill, Breeze Chalet and camp site can be seen on the left. On the brow of the hill, on the left, is a stone Guide emblem and a set of metal gates set back from the road. This is the main entrance to the site. 

Directions from M6

Leave M6 at J15, and at the roundabout take A519 signed for Eccleshall to traffic lights (500m) then turn right onto A5182.  Continue to roundabout on A53 and turn left. Travel west through Baldwins Gate village.  On leaving the village the road bends to the right, on this bend take the narrow lane to the left, after 50 yards bear right at a fork in the road then follow the road to the A51 where you turn right.

After ½ mile take the lane on your left signed Maer.

Continue as above 

Travelling from the South on A34

Continue on A34 to just north of Stone, then take A51 signed Nantwich for approx 5 miles.

About ½ mile beyond Slaters Craft Centre and Pub turn left on a narrow lane signed for Maer

   * (Be careful in the village, the road becomes very narrow past Maer Hall)

Continue as above  
 

Travelling from Nantwich direction on A51

Follow A51 past Bridgemere Garden Centre, through Woore and about 3 miles further on look for the pub 'Swan with two Necks' on the right. Continue for about 1 mile, then take the lane on the right signed  Maer.

          * (Be careful in the village, the road becomes very narrow past Maer Hall)

Continue as above 

To avoid congestion in Haddon Lane when leaving the site, we try to use a 'one way' system

      Cars for Newcastle.

Turn left out of the gate and continue past the village pond on your left, down the narrow lane to junction with A51. turn right and then sharp left immediately after crossing the railway. This road comes out by the Mainwaring Arms at Whitmore. Turn right for Newcastle 

      Cars for Stafford

Turn left out of the gate and continue past the village pond on your left, down the narrow lane

to the junction with A51, turn right at the junction then continue over the railway line and onward to the junction with the A34 at Darlaston.

Should use the route by which they came as the road mentioned here is too narrow for buses.
