Copper, element 29, forms the blade of this letter opener. The handle is made of brass, which is an alloy of copper with zinc. Copper is a ductile metal with a reddish hue. It conducts electricity well and is often used in electrical wiring. It is also an excellent conductor of heat, and so is used to make high-end cooking pots, as well as kettles for use in the brewing and distilling industry.
