Note of caution:
Eli and Elias are brothers and Malinda and Matilda (Matilda went by "Tilly") are sisters
Elias Connolly's death certificate (Feb 5, 1923) says father is Eli Connolly (d 2/22/1897) and mother is Malinda Greathouse (b 1873 d 3/21/1909). This must be the son of Eli/Malinda and the nephew of #5 Charles Elias Connolly 1827-1904.
There is a record of Matilda's marriage to Elias Connolly in Wirt County, but without the exact month and day. The prior date is 9/3/1849 and next date in marriage records is 10/27/1849. It is believed the marriage was probably in September or October 1849.
Joe Nutter (deceased) had a copy of the deed for the Connolly tract which Elias purchased from Ephraim Bee 18 March 1870. The Connolly's were early settlers in the Washington District of Calhoun County. The district is bounded on the north by Lee District, east by Gilmer and Braxton Counties, south by Clay, and southwest and west by Roane County. The land purchased by Elias in 1870 was right on the border of Roane and Calhoun and on Henry's Fork.
It is not certain where Elias and Matilda lived prior to 1870, but it was probably around Richardson, where many Connolly's lived. Richardson was just over the Roane County line into Calhoun County and was located up the West Fork near the mouth of Henry's Fork

Malinda and Eli's first born son was Elias Connolly, probably named after Eli's brother who was husband of Malinda's sister, Matilda
Two daughters, Malinda and Matilda are often confused because they were born only two years apart, their names are quite similar and they married brothers who had similar names and were born less than two years apart.
