Alan Lasser's Game of the Week, Nov 5, 2016

The final match of the computer championships may start this weekend, this year it’s Houdini versus Stockfish.  They are waiting for both contestants to submit final versions of their programs and for the hardware provider to come up with a 44 core server.

Get ready for one hundred games, one after the other, with no breaks.  Just leave a window open on your computer and it’s like a super-cool chess lava lamp, one inscrutable move after another.  Tune in at tcec.chessdom.com  and click the “news” tab to find the exact time it gets underway.

My exchange sacrifice was supposed to be temporary, allowing me to tie up his pieces long enough to win material.  The concept was too complicated for this time limit and when the exchange deficit became permanent, I was lost.  It was a misguided plan anyway, I could have caused my opponent greater problems by pushing the a-pawn.
