Students will travel at their own expense from Albuquerque to Managua. CONEXIONES will help students to organize travel and will provide transportation from the airport in Managua to Granada. Round trip fares (Albuquerque to Managua) vary from $700 - $1200. All travel expenses within Nicaragua (during the field session) are included in the CONEXIONES Program Fee.
Out of town participants will need to make their own living arrangements in Albuquerque. The directors will provide information. Out-of-state students should maintain close communication with Professor Thomas and the University Honors Program staff. In Granada, participants will be placed with local families (one student per family) accustomed to boarding UNM students. The Room & Board Fee for housing in Granada (including laundry) is included in the CONEXIONES Program Fee.
UNM requires all students who participate in UNM Study Abroad Programs to have medical insurance. Students can use their own continuing insurance if it matches or exceeds the coverage available through UNM. Students can find study abroad insurance information and/or online enrollment at www.hthstudents.com. Students must submit proof of insurance.
