Policies of the Concert Singers

Membership consists of around sixty voices from North Shore communities and is open to anyone interested in choral singing.

Annual dues are $20.00 and are payable at the beginning of the season in September. The money is used to cover the cost of cards, flowers, postage, stationery, etc. Members joining in January must also pay $20.00

Forms are given to both new and returning members at the beginning of each season to update our records. The forms should be returned to the Personnel Manager as soon as practical.

The Concert Singers has established the policy that each member must have his or her own copy of the music. The opportunity to purchase the music through the organization is provided, but members may bring their own or borrowed music as long as the arrangements are the same. At the beginning of each season, members will be able to purchase the music for the upcoming season.
Rehearsals are every Tuesday evening at the Unitarian-Universalist Church, 10 Forest Avenue, Swampscott, starting promptly at 7:30 P.M. and ending at 9:30 P.M., with a short break for announcements and refreshments. There are no rehearsals in December after the fall concerts and rehearsals begin again in January for the spring concerts. There is no rehearsal during school vacation week in February.

Members are expected to be present and on time for all rehearsals. Any member who misses more than 3 rehearsals in the September-December session or 4 rehearsals in theJanuary-May session will not be allowed to sing in the upcoming concert unless the Music Director is satisfied that the member knows the music well enough to contribute to the chorus. In making that decision, the director may require the member to audition.

Open Rehearsals
The first four rehearsals during the months of September and January are open to all those who may be interested in joining. The payment of dues is not required to attend the open rehearsals but will be required at the first rehearsal  in October of February. The open rehearsals, however, are included when determining the number of absences in each session. (See "attendance" above.)
