Band Happenings!

posted Sep 22, 2016, 3:51 AM by Laura Zawadzki

There are several important activities happening over the next few days with the Conant Band.

1.  Concert Wear and spirit wear should have made its way home today with your student. If it didn't, remind them to pick it up on Wednesday.  Attached are the instructions for the concert wear. HAVE YOUR STUDENT TRY ON THEIR CONCERT WEAR IMMEDIATELY!!!
DRESSES AND PANTS ARE UNHEMMED AND MUST BE HEMMED PRIOR TO CONCERT ON OCTOBER 25 (FLYER HAS WRONG DATE).  Please see instructions attached. If you have any questions regarding concert wear, please contact Shalini at

2.  Conant Band will be playing at the new McDonald's on Roselle Rd. on Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  Mr. Moorhouse will be in a pie costume! That fun fact alone should get everyone out to have dinner and the band will be splitting the proceeds of the night with Cougars in Need. Flyer was in your email yesterday.  (I can only attach one flyer-sorry)

3. Yankee Candle fundraiser will kick off on Monday 9/26. Students get 30% of the profits of all sales.  Watch for catalog and if you don't see it, ask your student to get you one.  This is a great fundraiser just for the kids accounts!

See you next week at our game on September 30!

For those of you that are new to Conant or just need a little reminder,  the Conant Band Parent’s Club (CBPC) is a not for profit club that works to support the band at Conant High School.  The Club handles all financial transactions of the band.

There are many opportunities for you go get involved.  We are always looking for volunteer help! Many volunteer opportunities require very little time commitment.  You can help as little or as much as you like, daytime or evenings.  No amount of time is “too little”.  Involvement in the club allows you to remain involved in your child's activities.

Even if you can't volunteer your time, please consider joining the club. Your dues are 100% directed to the band program to fund its many activities.

Some of the activities that the CBPC supports include:

  • Various Pizza Parties/Hot Dogs during the year

  • Financial Support for in school concerts not funded through D211

  • Drum major camp for student Drum Majors

  • Volunteer support to help ensure programs run smoothly

  • One College Scholarship for a qualifying student

All of these activities require time, talent and financial support.

We are requesting your involvement in this great organization!    We encourage CBPC participation for all families at the Gold level for those that can financially support our club at that level. You can purchase your membership in the online store.
