Installing on CUCS cluster

Step 0: Connect to the cluster
ssh clic-lab.cs.columbia.edu

Step 1: setting
JAVA_HOME
add to ./bashrc (e.g., do   "pico .bashrc") 
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun
then do:
source ~/.bashrc
echo $JAVA_HOME

Step 2: downloading and installing the binary X10 2.0.6

mkdir x10
cd x10
wget http://sourceforge.net/projects/x10/files/x10/2.0.6/x10-2.0.6_linux_x86_64.tgz/download
tar -xf download

Step 3: Create your first X10 program
pico HelloWorld.x10

public class HelloWorld {

  public static def main(Rail[String]) {
    for (p in Dist.makeUnique()) at (p)
      Console.OUT.println("Hello World");
  }
}

Step 4: Running on the java backend

Compiling for java:
x10c HelloWorld.x10
Running java:
x10 HelloWorld

Step 5: Running on the C++ backend

Compiling for C++:
x10c++ HelloWorld.x10
Running C++:
runx10 ./a.out
mpirun -np 2 ./a.out
