*Some notes about opening books:

The opening books play a very important role for engines elo strength,in other words:

-”the opening book is the key for getting a high-elo performance”

Depending on what kind of opening book usage, the chess engine can be performed approx. 0-200 elo points or even more…

Nowadays it’s a great fun of running book tournaments, many chess fans are interested to see who are 'Best Book Creators’

Actually the quality of the neutral books should be tested/checked too,e.g the neutral books depth move plies should be short.

I mean neutral books up to 8/10 moves are good idea and a well hand-optimized book should include strong various openings.

And the most important note:the both sides (Whites/Blacks) should have equal chances for a win.

In other words, the engines should not be tested with disadvantage openings…each game should be like in official tourney.

Not recommended to use a neutral book, where the engines will perform bellow 50-55% (Whites) and bellow 40-45 % (Blacks)

For example, hundreds of such critical (weak) opening lines have been disabled in P2011 book

Another important note:the neutral book authors should check and optimize very carefully the game results which have been ended in favor for weaker participants (when there is at least 200-300 or more elo difference,of course i mean for the current top engines:Houdini/Stockfish,Rybka… lost or scored with a draw against Komodo,Sjeng,Thinker…

Note also that its completely wrong view,in case of checking the book's performance by looking at only the engine evaluations.

I mean there are some openings where many engines show different evaluations (when the engine does the first search)

And it does not mean this line is weak or bad and i can give many examples, when the evaluations are more than -0.50 or -1.00

where furthermore (in the middle /endgames)…later Whites are winning and just opposite-there are also such openings,

where in the first opening, the engines show evaluations approx.+0.50 or higher, but furthermore the Blacks are winning…

One thing more, mostly of the neutral books are based on GM games,in other words there are many opening positions,

where GM of 2600-2800 Elo perform very good, but unfortunately exactly on the same opening positions,

this time the engines of +3000 elo are falling in a big disadvantage and that caused a lot of the engines elo strength.

*That’s why nowadays many grandmasters use the strongest engines for their analysis.

For this reason, the neutral Book Makers should be very careful in choosing in which openings the engines should be tested !

Another interesting note is that there are a lot of discussions over chess forums about which are the best book makers.

Such discussions will never end, because the opening theory is changing dramatically fast, daily are appearing stronger moves.

In my opinion, the authors of newer superior variations, which have been never played before have more chances to be ranked:

-at one on of TOP places !!!

Actually instead of comments/polls…i prefer independent book tournaments, ratings, standings, games…

Just i’d like to point out that the best way of measuring the Book Authors’s work is the system by Elo calculation.

For example,approx.4-5 years ago (before SCCT/Playchess ratings),it was very hard to estimate about who are

the strongest book creators, but now we have a lot sources…

And especially latest SCCT/Playchess/Pionerchess/RPC sources become good indicator about who are ‘Best Book Makers’

As we see,in almost all rankings there are different winners, that means the strong book creators are changing periodically.

*That’s why its very hard to guess who will be the next Winner,in other words: – Nobody (no any Book Author) is Best !

But however with respect to all, some of the Top Book Makers often perform at one of the highest places.

And i am not going to start counting the strongest Book Creators, because i am afraid to not mention/miss some names

Honestly, the idea (starting SCCT book tournaments/testings my Perfect books on Playchess server) is born just after

when i have seen that there were a few people (fans/friends of some book authors) who had suspicious about the performance

of Perfect books and now i hope they have changed their minds about the performance of my opening books

Actually in my each trying,i have reached the best performance on Playchess server or in other book competitions,

but however even after such success,it does not mean that i am ‘Best Book Maker’

But anyway, the opponent should be very careful in preparation his book lines,in case of playing against my Perfect16 book :)

One thing more, since two years i don’t play on Playchess server, due to nowadays i have no much free time.

Plus there is a such possibility to appear some people who will start to think that i use SCCT private books

*A little note (without not mentioning this i can’t):

– I feel a big proud:Perfect books were always with highest rank/best performance in many book competitions !

For example, here are available some tournaments, where the winners are used the Perfect13x/14/15/16 books:

• Playchess Rating: May – October 2009

• Playchess Rating: August 2008

• Many Playchess Users (Linus,Erdo,Lukas…) won CrapCleaner Swiss System

Note:in one of the tourneys,Lukas joined the tournament with disadvantage start:5 rounds late and won the competition

• Majd Ansari passed 3000 ELO Playchess Rating

• Klaus Ritter’s Book Ranking

• Book Tournament organized by Xaggard

*Note:Perfect 13x/14/15/16 book testings are done before SCCT private book registrations.

In those days i was testing mainly free opening books.

Last note:there is no doubt that there are many authors, who create really superior books

And nobody can be sure 100 % that his book will be always on TOP,as we know:

-to reach TOP Performance is very very Hard, but to stay always on TOP: ”its a Perfection”
